Nonpayment of salary: Our members are suffering—Adamawa NULGE raises alarm

The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, Adamawa Chapter, has raised alarm over hardship being experienced by its members, due to alleged nonpayment of their four months salary.
The State Chairman of the Union, Hamman Gatugel, raised the alarm in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Yola.
Gatugel expressed concern that in spite the Federal Government’s Paris Club and bail out interventions, the state government still owed local government workers four months salary.
He said: “Our members are suffering too much due to nonpayment of their four months salary from March to June.
“We have made several complaints to the state government over the matter but no positive response was made from government side.
“We are ever ready to join the nationwide strike proposed to begin tomorrow, Tuesday, November 6.”
Efforts by NAN to contact the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Mustafa Barkindo, for his comment, failed as he was said to have traveled to Abuja for official meeting.
