A-three-man delegation from the Turkish Film Commission, led by its president, Sait Yardimci, on Friday night, arrived Nigeria to be part of the Nollywood Excellence and Leadership Awards.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the ceremony is scheduled to hold in Abuja on September 30.
Frank Ikegwuonu, the NELAS president, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Saturday that the presence of the delegates would help to add colour to the occasion.
According to him, other members of the delegation are the commission’s vice president, Galip Guner, and member, Elin Ecealp.
Ikegwuonu said: “NELAS has resolved to encourage and celebrate the activities meant to expand, enhance and portray the African cultural heritage in all forms of global media advocacy and legacy projects.
“The award itself is a lifetime testimony of momentous contributions to human capacity development, skill acquisition, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
“We are honoured and happy to have the Turkish Film Commission’s team to be part of this feat of ours.”
Ikegwuonu said that winners of the Queens of Nollywood show, which is expected to focus on drama and cultural entertainment with strict adherence to the African culture and tradition would also be honoured.
According to Ikegwuonu, awards will also be presented in other categories such as, Lifetime Achievement Awards, Governor of the Year, Filmmaker of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year.
Other awards are: Celebrity of the Year, Author of the Year, Media Personality of the Year, Nollywood Personality of the Year, Philanthropist of the Year, Journalist of the Year, but to mention a few.
The president thanked the Nigeria Television Authority, Startimes TV Network and The Yankari Games Resort and Safari, Bauchi for their support in facilitating the awards.
