Nigerian arrested for drugging Chinese, stealing his N1m, $400

A 36-year-old man is now in the custody of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly drugging a Chinese man to dispossess him of his N1 million and $400.
The man, identified as Roland, a Nigerian based in Ghana, was alleged to have drugged the Chinese man identified as Papa and stolen his money.
It was gathered that Papa, who imports handkerchief from China, was connected to Roland by a Ghana-based businessman who had traded with Papa before.
On getting to Nigeria, Roland, who contacted Papa in Kevison hotel, where he was lodged, was said to have drugged Papa through his noodles food and removed his warehouse key and money from his hotel room.
Papa’s sister, Zhang Bo Fang, who narrated the incident in English, said her brother was unconscious and didn’t know what was happening, while she was busy searching every nook and cranny for him.
Her words: “I was always hanging around our warehouse in Agric, hoping my brother will show up but he did not.
“I became worried.
“I called all his mobile phones none of it was going through.
“So I was afraid and reported to the police.”
It was gathered that Roland alongside some other men he had hired, went to Papa’s warehouse, opened it and started loading the goods in the warehouse inside a truck.
Unfortunately for them, Papa’s sister, who had come to the warehouse to get some goods, was shocked to see Roland and the young men loading her brother’s goods.
She quickly alerted the police.
The policemen, who quickly swung into action, arrested Ronald, who took them to Papa’s hotel.
It was gathered that Papa, who was found unconscious in the room, was rushed to the hospital where he regained consciousness.
Meanwhile, Ronald denied drugging Papa.
He said: “I stayed with Papa and discussed with him a lot.
“We became close and he gave me the key to his warehouse to go and pick the goods I paid for.
“I didn’t steal any money, phone or even drugged him.
“I was surprised to have met him unconscious too.
“The sister is just lying.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Umaru Manko, said that Papa’s case was a trend now employed by desperate young men to get rich.
Manko’s words: “We are now aware of this new trend and we have alerted hoteliers to be on the lookout for such people.”
Meanwhile some suspected vandals who specialize in vandalizing pipeline around the creeks in Festac were also arrested and paraded with 100 jerry cans of petrol.
The young men, who claimed that their boss, one Fatai Apase, was always selling the petrol to some readymade customers, said they used boat during wee hours to carry out their operation.
The police are still hunting for the leader, Fatai Apase.
