The Niger State Government on Thursday commiserated with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists over the loss of one of its members, Mallam Salihu Muhammad Nmababa of Triumph Newspaper, who died early hours of the day after a protracted illness.
In a condolence message signed by the Commissioner for Information, Jonathan Vatsa, the State Government said it received the news of Nmababa’s demise with shock and sadness.
Vatsa said: “We, the government and people of Niger State, pray that his soul rests in perfect peace, and pray that God gives the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
“Until his death, Salihu was cool headed and thorough in discharging his duty with utmost recognition for professionalism and a dedicated member of the Correspondent Chapel.
“He has left a vacuum that will always be missed. A perfect gentleman and great family man, may his gentle soul rest in peace, and may God grant him Aljanan Firdaus.”
The late Nmababa, who fell ill on Sallah day and has been buried in his home town, Bida, Niger State, according to Islamic injunction around 2pm of same day.
The 60-year-old journalist was survived with one wife, 14 children and 20 grandchildren.
