The Mike Umeh-led faction of Nigeria Football Federation on Fridaydragged the NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, and four others to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Police Command regarding the fire outbreak at the federation’s secretariat on Wednesday.
There was a fire outbreak at the secretariat, popularly called the Glass House, that affected the offices of the General Secretary and the Chief Accountant.
Chief Umeh had alleged sabotage while reacting to the fire incident, calling on security agencies to investigate it.
He said: “This fire incident is strange and unbelievable.
“What are they trying to hide?
“It is strange and sad.
“It goes to show the extent of corruption in the house that we are talking about.
“This fire incident is nothing but sabotage and I am urging the security agencies to bring those responsible to book.
“It is all part of the ploy for some people to perpetuate themselves in power.”
Others dragged to the police to explain what they know about the strange fire incident were four of Maigari’s allies – Musa Amadu, Barrister Christopher Green, Chief Emeka Inyama and Alhaji Yusuf Ahmed Fresh.
The five football bosses were said to have been questioned for several hours.
It was learnt that when the left the FCT police headquarters, they moved to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, for a meeting ahead of the August 26 elective congress.
