NANS commends Jonathan on Second Niger Bridge

The Executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Zone B, led by the Coordinator, Comrade Ikechukwu Okorie, has commended President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for keeping to his promise of constructing the Second Niger Bridge.
NANS said the seemingly insurmountable campaign promise made during the 2011 general election has become a reality with the formal inauguration of the project on Monday by Jonathan in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The statement by NANS on Wednesday said Nigerian students are proud to be associated with the epoch making event.
The statement added: “We have heard series of stories as it relates to this second Niger bridge but today, it has come to fruition and Nigerian students are in total support of this landmark and the transformation agenda of our amiable President.
“No doubt, the second Niger bridge would help hasten industrialization and boost commercial activities in the South-East/South-South regions and the country in general. On completion, it will help alleviate the pains experienced by travellers as a result of congestion of the old bridge, particularly during festive periods. It will also massively improve road transportation in the South-East/South-South regions of Nigeria, and reduce travel times substantially, in this part of the country.
“We call on the Federal Government never to lose sleep on the four-year delivery target. In the same vain, we assure the President of our total and maximum support in delivering this set target.
“The Nigerian students also commend the governments of Delta and Anambra States led by His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan and His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi respectively for their maximum cooperation and contributions towards the success of this gigantic project.”
