My new album, Mogbare, will stand the test of time – Yomi Peters

Handsome juju maestro, Yomi Peters, needs little or no introduction in the juju music world. The multi instrumentalist juju act, who relocated to Nigeria some years back with sole aim of redefining juju music with his new dimensional juju music, talks candidly on his latest album entitled, Mogbare. Excerpts:

You are about releasing your latest work. What is your expectation from the album?
I’m very optimistic that it will stand the test of time after the release. And my teeming fans will so much like every bit of the album because we took our time to research and produce this juju music in another dimension that is second to none in the industry. It has African flavour and we pepped it up with hip hop version in order to cut across every strata of the society.
Why did it take you so long to release this album because we know you returned almost a year ago to revolutionise juju music in Nigeria with your new album as you said?
There were a lot of challenges in the course of releasing the album. We even tried to push it  to the market in December, but it was quite unfortunate that we were unable to come out as we planned. We however give glory to God. We are now planing towards Easter period, which is just around the corner.
What is the title of the album?
It’s Mogbare.
How many tracks?
The album is seven tracks with the mixture of hip hop and gospel. It’s a full packaged album and produced by seasoned producer, Puffy T.
Who is handling the marketing and distribution of the album?
MJG Intercontinental Records Company based in the United States, with a branch in Nigeria will handle the marketing and distribution of the album. And we have also thrown it open to the public for anyone who has interest in the distribution.
When precisely are you releasing it into the  market?
It’s during Easter period. Promotion has already started. The interview we are doing also forms part of the promotion in preparation for the launch of the album. So,any time from now, you will start hearing it on major radio stations across the country. Thereafter, we will officially launch it in a month’s time when every thing would have been put in place because we want every house to enjoy Yomi Peters during the Easter celebration. In fact, my fans in and outside Nigeria have been calling and sending mails asking me when the album will be released because they had expected that it would come out last December but we disappointed them. This time around, we would try our best not let them down. We really want them to feel the rhythm, beat and lyrics of the album.
How will you rate your new album?
I will rate it so high following what we have been able to package to the delight of our fans. As I said earlier, it took us almost a year to do this. So you should expect something better and superb from Yomi Peters. It’s a full package of inspirational songs, which I believe many homes would like to have a copy when eventually released.
Who are target audience?
It cuts across all the strata of the society. You will enjoy the album irrespective of your tribe. We actually took that decision to have a larger market. Juju music has gone beyond only using Yoruba language. That is why we pep it up with hip hop, gospel and high life so to speak.
How do you intend to come out?
We will come out with a bang. As I am talking to you now, the audio is on the verge of running while the video will follow suit.
Your words to your fans out there?
I will thank our fans across the world for the endless patience they have had for us towards the release of the album. We really appreciate them and their moral and financial support towards us. We assure them the album is ready and will be out this Easter by God’s grace.
