An Oyo State High Court on Monday adjourned the trial of Mukaila Lamidi, a former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the state, till March 1.
Justice Eni Esan adjourned the trial for adoption of written addresses after the defence lawyer, Adeleke Bakare, had closed his case.
Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, is facing trial for alleged murder of one Adekunle Oladipupo on March 2, 2014 at Iwo Road, Ibadan.
He was charged alongside Saheed Kareem, Taiwo Tijani, Abu Kareem and Kazeem Kayode.
The accused persons, arraigned in 2014, were charged with conspiracy, attempted murder and murder contrary to sections 516, 316 and 320 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges and have been remanded in prison custody.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports the accused persons denied committing the crime when they were being led in evidence by their lawyer.
During cross-examination by Tajudeen Abdulganiyu, the Director of Public Prosecution in Oyo State, Kareem specifically told the court that he was not a member of the NURTW.
He, however, admitted that he knew Oladipupo while he was the NURTW chairman.
