The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Plateau State chapter has elected officials to run the affairs of the chapel in the next three years.
Of the eight positions available, seven were returned unopposed except the post of the Assistant Secretary.
For the position, Moses Gbande of The Eagle Online newspaper scored 22 votes to defeat Hope Ikwe of Business Day newspaper, who scored eight votes.
Amino Idegu of The Nation newspaper emerged as chairman, while the post of the vice chairman went to Joshaiah Buzun of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Kaduna.
Peter Amine of News Agency of Nigeria emerged as the secretary of the chapel, Gyang Bere of the Daily Newswatch as the Treasurer, and Andrew Ajijah of Premium Times and Chizoba Anionwe as financial secretary and auditor respectively.
Speaking at the event, the Oath Officer, John Tsok, encouraged the incoming executive to be up and doing and initiate programmes that will benefit members.
They expressed regret that the correspondents’ chapel, which used to be vibrant, has remained a shadow of itself in recent time.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of others, Idegu promised that with the cooperation of members, the new executive is determined to work as a team to reposition the chapel and the union at large.
