The immediate past Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai Tuesday threw the Senate into a quagmire when the mode of screening him for his ministerial nomination became an issue.
While Senators from his Kaduna State requested for the continuation of the norm, that being a former Governor supposed to introduce himself then take a bow and go, some other Senators felt the former Governor should be questioned about his capacity to serve as Minister.
However, the ex-Governors ended up being grilled on how to navigate the perennial power challenges that have been confronting the country for decades.

In his response, El-Rufai said power supply is an intractable challenge that President Bola Tinubu is committed and determined to surmount for stable and reliable supply.
He revealed that the President has asked that he should work with him to address the power challenges.
He said his task would be to address power transmission and distribution challenges, while noting that the country has an installed capacity of 13,000 megawatts, but cannot transmit more than 5,000 megawatts at a time.
In order to address the challenge, he said gas supply challenges of over 20 years must be addressed, while expansion of transmission structure should be prioritised.
The former Governor also noted that the ownership structure of power distribution companies must be addressed while revealing that new ownership with fresh capital will be given premium consideration due to the inability of the current arrangement to address the challenge.
