The Super Eagles will tackle France in the round of 16 on Monday with one resolve: to win the match and proceed into the quarter final as a mark of honour for the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who successfully waded into the rift between them and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation.
This was stated by the Minister of Sports and Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Dr. Tammy Danagogo.
Speaking on his way to Brazil to deliver a special message from the President to the team before the Monday match, Danagogo thanked Jonathan for his prompt fatherly intervention to settle the rift between the players and the NFF, which could have jeopardized the team’s fortunes against France in the crucial second round encounter.
He said: “I want to thank the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, for his prompt fatherly intervention in settling the dispute.
“I also want to thank the Senate President for his role in seeing that the dispute is put to rest.”
Danagogo added: “Now that the rift has been settled, I urge the players to be focused on the game and make sure they win their next game on Monday.”
