Olajumoke Akinjide, the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, said on Thursday that the Fadma III project in the territory would be sustained.
Akinjide said this at Bukpe, Kwali Area Council, during an inspection tour of FCT Fadama III project sites.
She said: “We have twin track approach to ensure that Fadma III project is sustained in FCT.
“First, we will approach the World Bank to see if there can be Fadama IV.
“Secondly, we will have our programme, where the Federal Government, through the Bank of Agriculture, will contribute money to keep the programme running.
“We are aware that the project will be ending in December, but we cannot afford to stop it because it has been proven to be successful.”
Some of the chairmen of the Fadama III Community Association, who spoke during the visit, commended FCT Fadama Coordination Office for locating the projects in their various communities.
Maimunat Isiaku, Chairperson, Ayebodo FCA, said the association was into Garri processing, adding that the association, comprising 130 members, were all women.
Isiaku pledged the commitment of members of the association to ensuring preservation of all processing facilities installed by Fadama Office.
The chairperson solicited the support of the minister for the procurement of tractors to improve their income.
Yauza Ibrahim, Chairman, Jeodal Gondal FCA, said the presence of Fadama III project in the community had impacted positively on the lives of members of the community.
Ibrahim also said that challenges of water and pasture for their animals had been addressed.
