The military says it is winning the war against terrorism in spite of some challenges.
Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu, the GOC of 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, stated this while speaking with newsmen in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Ezugwu said: “We are winning the war.
“We are bringing the war to conclusion very soon.”
He, however, said Nigerians must support the military to sustain the successes so far recorded.
He said: “We want everybody to help us to support the peace that is emerging.
“The peace is more enduring and more gratifying for us in Borno and other parts of the North East of Nigeria.”
Ezugwu commended the Civil Society Organisations as well as Non-Government Organisations that had been partnering with the military toward the success of the counter-insurgency operation.
He said: “I thank traditional rulers and NGOs that are stakeholders to us in the fight against insurgency.
“Their accurate information, their support and advice to us have given rise to a growing civil/military relationship that is existing between the military and the authorities in our areas of operations.”
