Microsoft introduces 4Afrika Scholarship Programme

Microsoft Corporation on Monday introduced the 4Africa Scholarship
Programme in recognition of the International Youth Day.
The company said in a statement that it was shifting its focus from
the white space technology, to announce the Microsoft 4Africa
Scholarship Programme.
Patrick Onwumere, the Director of Youth Enablement, Microsoft 4Afrika,
said that the initiative was designed to help ensure that Africa
becomes globally competitive.
“And investing in our highly motivated youth is a critical step toward
making that a reality,” Onwumere said.
According to the statement, the latest 4Afrika Initiative effort is
designed to help develop Africa’s future leaders, by ensuring they
have access to the education and skills they need to succeed.
It also said that Microsoft would deliver mentorship, training,
certification, university-level education and employment opportunities
for promising young African leaders, at no cost.
The 4Afrika initiative was designed to help ensure that Africa could
become globally-competitive and investing in the highly-motivated
youth was a critical step toward making that a reality.
It said that the company was committed to helping millions of Africans
to get critical skills for entrepreneurship and employability, through
the 4Afrika Initiative and Youth Spark Programme.
The statement also urged young women to apply for the programme to
redress gender disparity in higher education in Africa.
