The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Tuesday arraigned a 29-year-old man, Michael Ishola, before a Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged drug trafficking.
The defendant is facing two counts bordering on illegal dealing in 500g of cannabis and 0.9 litres of codeine.
The NDLEA Prosecutor, N.J. Erondu, said that the defendant committed the offences on May 7 at Mushin area of Lagos.
Erondu said that Ishola was found in possession of 500g of cannabis and 0.9 litres of codeine, which was unlawful.
She said the drugs, which were later recovered from him, had been classified as psychotropic substances, similar to cocaine and heroin.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene the provisions of Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that no date has, however, been fixed for arraignment of the suspect.
