Chief Charles Majoroh, a renowned architect and former President of Africa Union of Architects, has been elected President General Worldwide of Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association.
Majoroh was elected at the 2019 Reunion and Annual General Meeting held on January 16, 2019 in the school Assembly Hall in Ughelli, Delta State.
Majoroh, who was the 1st Vice President, takes over from the immediate past PGWW, Prof. Oritsegbemi Omatete, after the latter’s successful tenure.
Omatete becomes an ex-officio member of the new National Executive Committee.
Other officers elected to pilot the affairs of the old boys association for the next two years are Chief Albert Akpomudje (SAN), as 1st Vice President; Olorogun Charles Okobia, 2nd VP; John Onwah, 3rd VP; Tsola Vincent, 4th VP; and Roy Odoko as Secretary General.
Obed Awowede was elected National Publicity Secretary; Mike Madagwa, Assistant Secretary General; Olorogun Dan Agbada, Treasurer; M. Robert Oviri, National Financial Secretary; and B. Ovwromoh, National Legal Adviser.
A statement by Awowede, National Publicity Secretary, said the election was presided over by Chief Miller Uloho, Ancient Mariner of the entry class of 1951 and a past Vice President General.
In his speech after the election, Majoroh thanked the old boys for their confidence in him and the new NEC.
He assured old boys present that the team would set to the task of continuing the restoration of the old glory of the school, especially in academics, adding that a committee has been constituted to look into ways to assist in upgrading academic performance to complement the massive infrastructural projects that has been executed by old boys and corporate organisations in the school.
The election of officers was the high point of this year’s reunion, which also featured the Jubilee Celebration of the entry class of 1969, with the commissioning of a block of classrooms renovated by the class and Annual the inter-house athletics competition.
