No Nigerian referee will be on duty at the forthcoming London 2012 Olympics soccer event going by the verdict of the world soccer ruling body, FIFA.
FIFA on Tuesday released appointment of match officials for both women and men soccer events with no Nigerian making the list.
For the women’s soccer, FIFA has appointed 12 centre referees and 24 assistant referees with Cameroonian, Nugel Therese Raisaa, as the only African centre referee.
Other African assistant referees are Ndha Tempa of Republic of Benin and Madagascar’s Rakotozafinoro Lidwine Pelagie.
In the men’s event, 16 centre referees were appointed with African duo of Gassama Bakary Papa (Gambia) and Jedidi Slim of Tunisia making the list.
The assistant referees from Africa are Damoo Jason Joseph (Seychelles), Ogbamariam Angesom (Eritrea), Hassani Bechir (Tunisia) and Hassan Sherif (Egypt).
The appointment cuts across all the five FIFA affiliated confederations.
The appointment was sequel to the draw conducted earlier on Tuesday.
