Diego Llorente has signed for Leeds United, the Premier League club announced on Thursday.
The Spain international defender penned a four-year deal with Leeds to become their second summer recruit from LaLiga, following Valencia striker Rodrigo to Elland Road.
The 27-year-old centre-back will wear the number 14 shirt with Leeds, the Whites confirmed in a statement.
“Leeds United are delighted to announce the signing of defender Diego Llorente,” read the statement.
“The 27-year-old joins the club from La Liga outfit Real Sociedad for an undisclosed fee.
“The defender has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Elland Road, running until the summer of 2024.”
Following Rodrigo to Elland Road, Llorente could also soon be joined in Yorkshire by another LaLiga player – Jose Campana.
Reports on Thursday claimed the Levante midfielder – who spent time with Crystal Palace earlier in his career – is on Marcelo Bielsa’s transfer list ahead of the summer window closing next month.
Llorente becomes Leeds’ sixth permanent first-team signing of the summer, after Helder Costa and Illan Meslier made their loan deals permanent and Rodrigo, Robin Koch and Crysencio Summerville all joined the Whites also.
