Senator Ahmad Lawan has been sworn in as the President of the Senate by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori.
This followed Ahmad’s defeat of Senator Ali Ndume by 79 votes to 28 in an election that saw 107 senators vote.
With his election, Ahmad is now to oversee the election of other Principal Officers of the Senate.
But of special interest to followers of development in the Senate is that of the Deputy Senate President.
As at press time, nominations were being announced for the position of the Deputy Senate President.
