Mr Oluwatoyin Gafar, Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support for youths and sports development in the state.
Gafar in a statement issued by Titi Oshodi, LSSC Director of Public Relations, in Lagos on Friday, lauded the governor for efforts at improving the lots of youths since inception of his administration.
He said, “Since his assumption of office in the last two years, Governor Sanwo-Olu has continued to support the youths in Lagos, particularly those participating in sports.
“The sports-loving governor has always been giving the Team Lagos athletes, students both in public and private secondary schools good platform to showcase their talents through series of approved competitions and championships for them.
“I commend Governor Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to the cause of developing youths in Lagos State and sports development at the grassroots level.
“The support to the two foreign-based and four home-based Tokyo Olympics-bound Lagos athletes has again shown that the governor has the interest of the Lagos youths at heart.”
Gafar noted that the governor had paid the outstanding cash awards owed Lagos medalists of the 2018 National Sports Festival tagged ‘Abuja 2018’ by the immediate past administration in the state.
“The governor just rewarded the Team Lagos athletes who won medals for the state at the last 20th National Sports Festival tagged ‘Edo 2020’ held in Benin in April, with higher cash rewards.
“This singular act of the governor has proved that he is ready to support, improve and cater for the well-being of Lagos State youths.
