The Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation says it is committed to the seamless migration to complete digital broadcasting.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Alhaji Abdulateef Adedeji, stated this while featuring on a Radio Kwara interactive programme: “The Platform.”
According to Adedeji, this would involve the harmonisation of both the AM and FM station in line with global trend to enhance its competence drive and performance quality.
He said the migration became imperative because it offers larger latitude and reach, saves cost and encourages capacity building for it staff.
Alhaji Adedeji, however, assuaged the concern that the migration could result to downsizing of its workforce, saying not only should workers be assured of job security, none of its programmes would also be affected in the process.
The General Manager however assured the station’s teeming listeners that they would be carried along in the process and urged the National Broadcasting Commission to take the lead in sensitizing the general public on the importance of digitization.
Speaking on his achievements in office so far, Adedeji noted that his tenure had led to innovative ideas that have sustained the exceptional content and quality of programmes the station had been known for.
Alhaji Adedeji, who explained that the ideas he brought on initially met some resistance, however, commended the tremendous support from his robust management team and staff who have all contributed in no small measure to re-inventing the station.
The General Manager added that not only has the station been relatively self sufficient, its work force has enjoyed recurrent capacity building and trainings that had improved their pedigree.
He restated the Corporation’s commitment to continue to bring up programmes that would respond to societal needs.
Callers on the programme commended the giant stride of the Corporation and charged it to keep the good work going.
Talking politics, Adedeji said the inability of the proponents of change to completely embrace the progressive step is responsible for the lingering crisis within the National Assembly.
According to him, the concerned legislators and aggrieved stakeholders must be ready to display their patriotism to national cohesion and sustainable democratic process by accepting the reality as evident in the new leadership of the National Assembly.
He described Senator Bukola Saraki’s sterling leadership qualities as what culminated in his emergence as the Senate President, hence urging Nigerians to rally round him for a successful tenure at the red chambers.
On his membership in the Legacy Support Group, he explained that the socio-political group was set out to galvanise support and ventilate their political expression for Senator Saraki and the Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, in their leadership capacities.
Speaking on the illicit use of adulterated gin and its resultant negative effect on the people, Alhaji Adedeji said the onus lies with the people to take responsibility for their actions.
He however charged government at all levels to do the needful by initiating legislations that would discourage the use of the armful substance in the collective interest of the people.
