After keeping mute on the controversies involving Super Eagles Chief Coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, and his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation, former Eagles handler, Samson Siasia, has exclusively told The Eagle Online Sports that the friction between the duo is capable of jeopardizing Nigeria’s chances of picking the Brazil 2014 World Cup ticket.
When squeezed for his reaction on the matter, Siasia, who has just been appointed as the Director of Football Development in Bayelsa State, said the situation is injurious to the aspirations of the team to qualify for the 2014 Mundial since Keshi needs the full backing of the NFF and a healthy relationship to be able to actualize his dreams of qualifying the nation for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
Siasia said: “Sincerely speaking, the NFF and Keshi as a matter of urgency need to shield their swords and embrace peace in the interest of the nation.
“Nigeria is still savouring winning the Nations Cup after 19 years.
“The ever passionate football loving Nigerians are also full of expectations and hopeful that the Eagles will follow it up by picking the World Cup ticket.
“So this controversies are not good at the moment when the team has important qualification matches to play next month.
“It is not healthy at all.
“Keshi is a friend and brother and I know he will cooperate with the NFF but the two parties need to sit together at a round table and iron out whatever difference they have between them.
“I am confident this would be resolved and Nigeria would eventually qualify for the World Cup.
“But if this is not nicked in the bud on time, it may stop us from getting the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.”
