Former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubabar, has described the sudden death of Ken Saro-Wiwa Jnr., eldest son of late author and environmental activist, Ken Saro-Wiwa, as the loss of a cultured budding national future leader, patriotic global pen pusher and a humanist with a heart of gold.
Abubakar, in a condolence message issued in Abuja by his Media Office on Thursday, expressed shock and anguish at the demise of the cerebral activist at barely age 48.
“Ken Saro-Wiwa Jnr. was a suave, urbane and humane gentleman who fought injustice and inequity with scholarly augment and logical polemics. He chose the path of debate and jaw-jaw to redress wrongdoings to his people, rather than recourse to violence,” Abubakar said.
According to the Turaki Adamawa, Saro-Wiwa Jnr. was “a lettered-man whose lifespan though short-lived has evergreen achievements nationally and internationally; especially in the spheres of journalism and human cum environmental rights activism. He dedicated his life to the service of the Nigerian nation”.
While praying for the repose of the soul of Saro-Wiwa Jnr. in eternity, Abubakar also commiserated with bereaved Nigerians home and abroad, particularly members of his nuclear and extended family, and the government and people of Rivers State.
