A support group of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, said it has finalised arrangements to invite the former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, to the state to deliver a lecture on mainstreaming Ndigbo in Nigeria politics.
The coordinator of the planned occasion, Barrister Moses Okezie-Okafor, told journalists in Lokoja on Thursday that the event is being organized under the auspices of Ndigbo Support Group For Governor Yahaya Bello
Okezie-Okafor said the occasion, scheduled for July 29, would offer the Ndigbo community in Kogi State the opportunity to interact with the Ahaejiagamba of Igboland (Kalu) on the fate of the Ndigbo in Nigeria politics and way forward for the Igbo in different states.
Okezie-Okafor, the Director-General, Research and Development, Office of the Kogi State Governor, noted that the lecture, which is to be chaired by Kalu, would have Bello as Special Guest of Honour among others.
When contacted, the Special Assistant on Media to Kalu, Peter Eze, confirmed the ex-governor’s acceptance to deliver the lecture.
Eze said Kalu, at the lecture, would attempt to x-ray the relationship between the exceptional qualities Ndigbos possess and the electoral value they wield wherever they are resident in Nigeria.
“He would also share important insights into whether Ndigbo stands a better chance of achieving her aspirations through active political participation in an evolving Nigeria than through isolationist agitations,” Eze said.
The organisers said the grand occasion will hold at Imperial Marquée & Events Centre, Old Poly Quarters, Lokoja and pledged to ensure a well packaged and exciting event.
