The National Orientation Agency on Wednesday called on Nigerians particularly residents of Kaduna to keep peace and shun violence so as to enjoy progress and development in the country.
Zubairu Galadima-Soba, the Kaduna state Director, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna.
He noted that only peace could bring progress in a society adding that people should learn to tolerate one another and understand that every citizen has right to live and own property in any part of the country.
Galadima – Soba: “We have been living together for a long time in peace and harmony and we have become brothers and sisters.
“Nobody is an island on its own.
“We have to cohabit with our visitors who are not indigenes of the area to enable us to live and learn new ideas that will bring development to our community.”
The Director, therefore, called on the people of the state to love one another and practice good neighbourliness by bringing humanity first before religion as “only with peace can we practice religion”.
According to him, the need for peace cannot be over emphasised as the country is gearing towards election in 2019 warning that violence only breeds underdevelopment and backwardness.
Galadima-Soba also called on religious leaders of both the Christian and Muslim faith to preach peace, love and togetherness to their followers.
