June 12: Soyinka, Adebanjo, Frank Kokori, Agbakoba, others to be honoured

The June 12 Movement of Nigeria in conjunction with the Nigeria Intervention Movement have finalised plans to recognise and honour some notable Nigerians who played key roles during the struggle for the restoration of June 12, 1993 presidential election.
The honour will be conferred on them on Tuesday in Lagos at a Special Presidential Roundtable in commemoration of the Silver Jubilee of the June 12 Democracy Day celebration in Nigeria.
The Special Roundtable session, which creates auspices for honouring real Heroes and Heroines of the June 12 pro democracy struggle in Nigeria, has also been designed to host leading presidential aspirants contesting in the 2019 elections in Nigeria.
The commemorative National Presidential Dialogue is geared towards initiating and setting a cohesive agenda for a ballot based PVC Revolution of the Movement during the forthcoming elections scheduled to hold in February 2019.
This historic event, which is also expected to bring leaders of the Nigerian Government, leading presidential aspirants and front line political activists in Nigeria to a robust interface, is scheduled to hold on June 12, 2018 at the June 12 Democracy Centre at 43/46, MKO Abiola Crescent, off Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos from 10am to 1pm.
As it is accustomed with the organisers in an election year, the raison d’être for the presidential roundtable, themed: “2019: Towards a formidable and cohesive electoral intervention for a new Nigeria,” is to create a platform for profound understanding among contending aspirants in the 2019 general elections towards ensuring that the Nigerian people and electorates get the very best for a ballot based, PVC driven revolution to be effected for a new Nigeria to emerge in 2019.
All nominated Heroes and Heroines of Democracy are expected to grace this ceremony, which highpoint will be a major interlude to pray for Nigeria, while honouring the immortal memory of the supreme sacrifice paid by all the martyrs of Nigerian current democracy, including MKO Abiola.
Some of the eminent Nigerians already nominated for the Heroes and Heroines of Democracy honours are Prof. Wole Soyinka, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), Senator Shehu Sanni, Comrade Frank Kokori, Prof. Attahiru Jega, Ayo Obe, Femi Falana (SAN), Veteran Olawale Okunniyi, Dr. Osagie Obayuwana, Dr. Dipo Fashina, Dr. Femi Aborishade, Dr. Odion Sylvester Akhaine, Comrade Aremu Abiodun and Omoyele Sowore among 15 other pro-democracy activists already listed for popular recognition by the June 12 Movement of Nigeria
The presidential dialogue, modelled after MKO Abiola Hope ’93, will be anchored by Okunniyi, the Convener of June 12 Movement of Nigeria, under the Chairmanship of Agbakoba, a legal icon and human rights advocate, who is also the Chair of Nigeria Intervention Movement.
