The Maigatari Local Government of Jigawa says it has awarded N15 million contract for the construction of drainage in Maigatari town and three other villages to check the menace of flood.
The council’s Chairman, Malam Uzairu Nadabo made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Dutse.
Nadabo said the drainage would curtail the flood threatening Maigatari Arewa, Tsinke, Zazzabau Mallam Aba villages.
He said that 18 villages had been affected by the flood, which had destroyed houses and property.
The chairman, who sympathised with the affected communities, directed that a comprehensive list of victims should be compiled for submission to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for appropriate action.
