James Peters advocates Emenike, Nwafor’s Eagles pairing

After watching the Super Eagles wallop the Bafana Bafana of South Africa 2-0 to win the Nelson Mandela Challenge in Durban on Wednesday courtesy a brace from VVV Venlo of Holland  striker Uche Nwafor, former Super Eagles Coach, James Peters, called for the pairing of the player with top striker, Emmanuel Emenike, henceforth.
The very blunt veteran coach, who is now the Nigeria Football Federation Technical Director in charge of Women’s football, was thrilled with the performance of the young and vibrant striker against South Africa.
Peters wondered how hot and productive the attack line of the Eagles would be having Nwafor pairing Emenike in the Eagles attack in matches, most especially in the remaining matches of the ongoing 2014 World Cup qualifier.
JP, as he is fondly called, declared his preference for Nwofor and Emenike twin strike force compared with Emenike, Brown Ideye partnership in the Super Eagles attack.
But he was quick to warn that the Super Eagles handler, Stephen Keshi, should play Nwafor more in the attack before he should conclude either to pair him or use him as lone striker in the Super Eagles matches.
He said: “Though, I believe that we should look at him in the next two matches before we can conclude that he has come to take over the top striking position of the Super Eagles but his two strikes were great and to me I think he is a better striker than Brown Ideye.
“I would have faulted him for backing the goal post in the 18 yard box during the build up to the first goal but the way he
eventually scored the goal through a back kick was great.
“And the second goal was also classic. The way he ran into the cross shows that he is a natural goal scorer. But like I said, let us still observe him in the next two matches before we can conclude.”
