Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State has advised the Peoples Democratic Party to involve all stakeholders in its decision making.
Aliyu gave the advice on Monday when he received members of the PDP North-Central Reconciliation Committee in Minna.
He said this would improve internal democracy and unity within the party and that it would ensure victory of the party in the forthcoming elections.
He said: “All the levels of party hierarchy must be brought along to give their inputs to what comes from the party headquarters.
“The inputs from the wards, local governments, states as well as the zonal level must be heard and used at the headquarters.”
Aliyu also called for the review of the automatic waiver policy for new entrants to the party, adding that new entrants must be knowledgeable in party policies.
He said that the party would not have seen the defection, which bedeviled it in the aftermath of the primaries recently, if those given waivers were aware of PDP rules.
The governor urged the reconciliatory committee to use the tour to instil confidence in non indigenes so as to forestall mass exodus to places of origin before the elections.
Earlier, Alhaji Yusuf Ayitogo, head of the delegation, said the tour was to pacify those that lost out in the party’s primaries.
Ayitogo said the party was big enough to accommodate all aggrieved persons, adding that sanctions may be meted out to those involved in anti-party activities.
