Investigators find no connection between Vatican bones, 1983 case

Italian Investigators do not see a connection between human bones found in a Vatican building in Rome and a 1983 missing-person case.

First investigative results showed that the bones came from the 1964 or earlier, the ANSA news agency reported on Friday.

Many people had speculated that the October discovery during renovation work at the Vatican embassy was connected to Emanuela Orlandi, the missing daughter of a Vatican clerk.

Orlandi was a Vatican citizen, who was aged 15 when she went missing in 1983 after attending a flute lesson near Rome’s central Piazza Navona.

Over the years, a series of conspiracy theories have connected her disappearance to anti-papal plots by foreign secret agents, Italian mobsters and sexual predators within the clergy.
