The Senate Leader, Ali Mohammed Ndume, on Tuesday disbursed no fewer than 100 women in Internal Displaced Persons camp in Abuja.
The worm just finished six months training in sewing.
Ndume gave them brand new Singer sewing machines.
Represented by his wife, Mariam Ndume, who condoled with the people that lost their loved ones during the insurgency in Borno State, Senator Ndume vowed not to relent in organising empowerment programmes for the IDPs.
Mrs. Ndume, who appealed to the Federal Government to intensify effort to ensure the return of the Chibok girls, also promised to empower another set of women that are under going training.
According to her: “I condole with people that lost their loved ones during the insurgency in Borno.
“The Senate Leader sent me to you to give these sewing machines.
“I am pleading with you not to misuse the machines and not to sell.
“I am assuring you that more will still be trained in other areas on skill acquisitions.”
Also, speaking during the event, the convener of the empowerment, Sunday Waba, thanked the Senate Leader for his kind gesture to the IDPs, recalling that Senator Ndume made the promise in December to give sewing machines to the women trained as tailors during the end of year party for IDPs and today the promise has been fulfilled.
At the empowerment programme, the wife of Senate Leader inspected clothes sowed by women going through training.
