Golden Eaglets’ star and the Most Valuable Player at the just ended FIFA Under 17 World Cup, Kelechi Iheanacho, is close to finalising his transfer move to Premier League side, Manchester City.
The Etihad outfit has put in motion a process to secure a work permit for Nigerian starlet.
The youngster, who scored six goals in the tournament, including one in the 3-0 final win over Mexico, has agreed terms to join City.
But they still face a battle to bring him in, although they claim he is a ‘special talent’ and will have strong evidence to back it up.
The Taye Academy youngster has been the hottest property on the market after impressing at the Under 17 World Cup and the player of the tournament now appears to have made his decision.
Iheanacho’s father, James, told of their impending move to England.
He said: “We prayed and, after talks with family members, we came up with Manchester City, believing he has a future there.”
The midfielder was among the three Golden Eaglets players that were invited to join the Super Eagles’ camp in Abuja ahead of the African Nations Championship, CHAN 2014.
