The Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, on Monday told politicians in the state not to be complacent but to involve all rules of engagement to ensure that the Peoples Democratic Party wins the 2015 general elections in the state.
Aliyu, who said this while inaugurating the PDP gubernatorial campaign organization in the state, stated that the Niger State PDP has a sellable candidate that is willing and has learnt the ropes of leadership and is willing to work.
According to him, politics is meant to remind people of what the party has done to ensure that it wins, adding that the issues the party will face is different from elections held in the past.
He said: “If you cannot lie, get out of politics.
“Anything you are involved in has its own rule.
“You are in politics to win.
“Win first, let other things follow.
“Don’t be the one crying.
“Rather, let you be the one they will take to court.
“If you are talking of honesty or moral, go and become an Imam or Pastor.
“Politics cannot be the way it used to be.
“The challenges are more now.
“The variables have changed.
“The issues that we are going to face in 2015 is different from the one we faced in 1999.
“We must bear that in mind.
“Our society is not as grateful as it used to be.
“The values and morals have gone down.
“If you want to win, use the modern morality.
“We have worked for the people.
“Politics is not about ‘sadaka’ (giving alms).
“Politics reminds people of what you have done.
“Go out and remind the people of what we have done.”
Aliyu stated that the party would adopt operation “deliver your polling unit”.
He said members of the party, especially political officers, should be involved in the neighbour to neighbour and house to house campaign.
The governor then called all campaign organizations in the party to work together without smearing each other.
He said: “All members of the presidential campaign organization, gubernatorial campaign organization, senatorial campaign organization, House of Representatives and Assembly campaign organizations must come together to work without competing with each other.”
