The Chairman of Ondo State Football Agency, Mike Idoko, on Thursday took vital steps with a view to professionalise the agency’s operations and in furtherance of its reorganization process.
Idoko did this by making a couple of appointments and postings, which were to be implemented with immediate effect across all sectors of the Agency.
Rasheed Balogun, who had previously served ODSFA as the Team Manager of Sunshine Stars a couple of years back and currently serving with Dolphins of Port Harcourt, was brought back to serve as Team Manager of Sunshine Stars.
Idoko stated that if the agency must achieve its goal of winning a trophy this season, then Rasheed, who is known for his hands-on approach, needed to be appointed.
“To this effect, the current Team Manager of Sunshine, Gabriel Aborowa, has been redeployed as Team Manager of the states’ other football club, Rising Stars.”
Another addition to the Sunshine Stars is N. Napoleon, who will serve as Coach of the team.
Senior Coach, Samuel Abimbola, who resumed office earlier this season retains his job.
Kenedy Boboye, former assistant coach, was sacked after his alleged anti club activities.
A couple of appointments were also made for Rising Stars, which is campaigning in the Nigeria National League, with the hope of gaining promotion back to the Nigeria Professional Football League. Kayode Julius, a former player of Sunshine Stars, who was with Akwa United last season, has been appointed to take over as Senior Coach of Rising Stars.
Adeyemi Kayode, previously the coach of the academy have been posted to serve as coach of Rising Stars.
Folorunsho Stephen John, a goalkeeper trainer, will serve with Rising stars, while Ale Olarenwaju, a physical trainer, will also serve with Rising stars.
The ODSFA did not fail to recognize the need for improvement in the camp of the Sunshine queens who have struggled in the five-week old Nigeria Professional Women League as Idoko also made changes to the personnel in a view of seeing immediate improvement.
Wemimo Matthew, the former Team Manager of the Sunshine Queens, has been redeployed. She will now serve as the Senior Coach of the team.
Idoko described this move as one for efficiency as he believes Matthew will be more efficient as a Coach than as a manager since she is a certified coach.
Kayode Olofin, former goalkeeper trainer with the Rising Stars, has been posted to serve with Sunshine Queens as a goalkeeper trainer still. Monday Eche is th Physical trainer of the Sunshine Queens.
Oluwole Ajayi will be a coach with the Sunshine Queens and Kayode Afolabi, former Coordinator of the academy, will now take over as the Team Manager of Sunshine Queens. Moruf Adams, who is a marketing consultant, will now serve as the Special Adviser, Technical Matters in the agency.
Idoko took another giant stride by disbanding the Academy with immediate effect.
This also was for the purpose of efficient and professionalism, he said.
The academy will however be reconstituted.
Dapo Ajibade, who is also a marketing consultant, will now serve as the coordinator of the youth soccer academy.
The agency has also created an official website for Sunshine Stars to keep fans all over the world updated on their favourite team and to also help viewers get to know more about the club.
