The Ekiti State House of Assembly has congratulated the state Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on the occasion of his one year in office.
The House said Fayose should be more resolute in taking the state out of the woods in the years ahead.
Fayose was sworn in again as governor of the state on October 16, 2014.
The House, in a statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Speaker, Stephen Gbadamosi, noted that with the achievements he had recorded in the last one year, Fayose had justified the confidence the electorate reposed in him in the last governorship election in the state.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Kola Oluwawole, said: “This occasion calls for thanks to the Almighty God. With the enthronement of Governor Fayose on the saddle in the state, He (God) provided the golden opportunity to save the state from imminent collapse.
“The governor hit the ground running, despite the debt challenges his administration inherited. His achievements in this short period of time attest to this. While I congratulate the government and people of Ekiti State on this auspicious occasion, I charge the people to continue to support this government, as I am sure that all the yearnings of the people will be met.”
The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Chief Olugboyega Aribisogan, also called on the people to continue to support and be patient with the government, adding that the process of returning the state to a strong footing cannot but be with sacrifices.
Aribisogan said: “We all know how our dear state had been plundered before the advent of this government. It is upon the coming of this government and equity returned to the state. On our part as legislators, we will continue to give the executive the legal leverage to put smile on the faces of the people.
“I also want to assure the people that despite the financial challenges, they shall witness real development in our state in the life of this administration.”
