The Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Danbaba Suntai, is dead.
Reports from Adamawa State has it that Suntai crash landed while trying to land a light aircraft at the airport in Yola, the state capital.
It was learnt that Suntai, who is a qualified pilot having attended the aviation school in Zaria, Kaduna State, was in charge of the aircraft when it crashed.
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Special Assistant, Reno Omokri, confirmed the development.
Omokri did this on his Twitter page a few minutes ago.
It could not be confirmed how many others were with him in the aircraft, but two persons were reported to have survived the crash.
One other notable Nigerian who was at the aviation school in Zaria at the time Suntai trained was Hon. Ibn Na’Allah.
Suntai had become governor before attending the school.
He is said to own an helicopter, which he also flies himself.
