The Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, has said that Governor Usman Ododo did not shield his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, from arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Operatives of the EFCC had laid a siege to the Abuja residence of Alhaji Bello, where they wanted to arrest him.
However, following the arrival and departure of Ododo from the residence, the security operatives, believing Bello was in his convoy, left the scene.

In an interview with Channels Television, Fanwo, who also served as Commissioner for Information in the administration of Bello, said Ododo remains committed to upholding the laws of the country, including respecting its legal processes.
He said: “Governor Ododo did not assist in Bello’s departure from his residence.
“The EFCC’s claims are misinformation aimed at furthering their objectives.
“Bello is not evading anyone.
“The existing court injunction protects his fundamental rights.”
