Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has inaugurated four committees to investigate activities of some departments and agencies in the state during the former administration of Alhaji Ibrahim Shema.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the agencies and departments include the state Road Maintenance Agency, the Department of Girl-child Education, the Millennium Development Goals and the Universal Basic Education Board.
Inaugurating the committees on Monday in Katsina, Masari directed them to ascertain locations and state of projects or programmes executed by the affected agencies between 2011 and 2015.
He also directed them to determine whether the funds earmarked for the projects were judiciously used and advice the government accordingly.
Masari stressed that the probe was not to witch hunt anybody.
He charged the committee members to put aside sentiments in the discharge of the assignment.
The governor said the probe was necessary as it would assist the administration establish more vibrant institutions dedicated to the service of the state.
The committee chairmen are Alhaji Abdu Kanti, KASROMA; Dr. Kabir Matazu, SUBEB; Abdullahi Imam, MDG’s/SURE-P; and Mariya Abdullahi, Girl-child education department.
he committees are expected to submit their report in three weeks.
In their separate remarks, the chairmen of the committees vowed to carry out their assignments without fear or favour.
