Former Bulgarian international, Ivanov, is dead

The Bulgarian Football Union has announced that former international defender, Trifon Ivanov, has passed away at the age of 50.
Ivanov, who won a total of 77 caps for his country, helped Bulgaria reach the semi-finals of the 1994 World Cup, while he also appeared at Euro 1996.
A statement read: “Trifon Ivanov will remain in the history of Bulgarian football as one of the best defenders.
“Before being a great player, Trifon was a great man with great heart and always ready to help.
“We all mourn the loss of a true friend. Rest in peace, Trifon.”
Ivanov, who retired from professional football in 2001, spent time at the likes of CSKA Sofia, Real Betis and Rapid Vienna during his career.
