The encounter between CAF Champions League hopeful, Enyimba FC, and high-flying Rivers United, is definitely the pick of the 2016 men’s Federation Cup quarter-final matches.
On Wednesday, the People’s Elephant struggled against hard-fighting J. Atete FC of Delta State in their delayed Round of 16 clash at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, but eventually prevailed 1-0 to set up a battle with the Port Harcourt giants.
Incidentally, both Enyimba and Rivers United play their home matches in the Nigeria Professional Football League in Port Harcourt, after the two-time African champions opted out of Umuahia, which was their temporary base, as their home ground in Aba is undergoing renovation.
Also in the men’s quarter-finals, Akwa United will tackle Nasarawa United, while Warri Wolves clash with FC IfeanyiUbah in another all-NPFL clash.
Wikki Tourists have their work cut out against the only non-NPFL team remaining the race, Crown FC of Ogbomosho.
The Oyo State boys eliminated Enugu Rangers in the Round of 16.
In the women’s race, Rivers Angels will confront Nasarawa Amazons, while Delta Queens go up against Bayelsa Queens in the semi finals.
