Sudanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Ibrahim Bushra, has called for stronger economic relations between the two countries.
He made the call in Kano on Saturday during the country’s 62nd independence day celebration at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.
According to him, six million Nigerians currently reside in Sudan, while thousands of Nigerian students are studying in different universities in that country.
He said that the relationship between Nigeria and Sudan, particularly with Kano State started before independence.
The envoy said Sudan was poised to boost bilateral economic relations with Nigeria in many areas.
Earlier in a remark, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State assured the envoy of the state’s readiness to work closely with the Sudanese Embassy in the areas of education, agriculture and economy.
Ganduj said: “There is strong relationship between Sudanese and Nigerians since before independence.
“The cultural relationship is very good. Many Kano students are now studying in Sudan and thousands of Sudanese students are in different Nigerian universities.”
