Information reaching The Eagle Online has it that the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has landed in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
According to available information, Emmanuel got to the Government House, where he was received by his host and incumbent Governor, Ayo Fayose, at about midday on Friday.
Also being expected are said to be other governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, especially Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
Fayose’s party, the PDP, is presenting his Deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, as candidate.
His most formidable opponent is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
The election is scheduled for Saturday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had on Thursday distributed election materials to all the local government areas in the state, with the assurance that the poll will be free and fair.
