The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has announced April 12, 2014 for the conduct of its nomination process for the emergence of its candidate for the June 21, 2014 governorship election in the state.
A statement from the Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Olajide Awe, said that APC would adopt direct primary method in the 177 wards of the state.
Consequently, the party would deploy two electoral officers and a returning officer to each ward for the exercise while a returning officer would be appointed for each local government.
Awe, who added that the Local Government Returning Officer would be responsible for the collation of results from the wards within the local government area and transmission of same to the State Collation Centre, said that the APC had taken this step to ensure a transparent and credible process as well as to comply with the stipulations of the electoral act.
The APC helmsman directed that the registration officers and ward local government supervisors during the party’s recent membership registration exercise should be deployed to handle the exercise.
