The Northern States Governors Forum has enjoined Muslims to work towards strengthening peaceful coexistence and good neighbourliness as Muslims all over the World celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, who gave the charge in an Eid-El-Kabir message, said Nigerians must reflect on the various challenges facing the nation and work collectively to surmount them.
“The challenges confronting the nation require the cooperation of all if the country is to achieve meaningful progress and development,” the forum said in a statement signed by Governor Aliyu’s spokesman, Danladi Ndayebo.
It said the celebration provides another opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the essence of sacrifice, selfless service and total submission to Allah, which are requisite conditions for harmonious coexistence and development of our nation.
The forum urged Muslims and non Muslims alike to use the Eid-el-Kabir season to forgive and love one another, while emphasizing the need for Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of peace, sacrifice, love and tolerance, which are the significance the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The forum called on Nigerians to continue to support governments at all levels to enable those in position of authority to do more for the citizenry.
