Governor Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa State has directed the payment of May salaries of state civil servants on Wednesday ahead of Eid-El Fitri celebration.
The state Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning, Alhaji Babangida Gantsa, made this known in a statement on Monday in Dutse.
The commissioner said the payment of the salaries would commence on or before May 20.
Gantsa said the approval for the payment of the salaries was to enable workers in the state and local governments enjoy the Eid celebrations.
He re-assured workers of Governor Badaru-led Administration’s commitment toward prompt payment of their salaries.
The commissioner also appealed to the workers and the entire people of the state to pray in the last 10 days of Ramadan for the blessings of the Almighty Allah to end the coronavirus pandemic.
Gantsa called on civil servants to ensure total compliance with the safety guidelines approved by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control against COVID-19.
