Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki has claimed that his Deputy, Philip Shaibu is desperate to succeed him, alleging that he plotted a coup against him during the State’s House of Assembly election of principal officers .
Obaseki who made this known during Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders meeting in Edo state chapter added that his Deputy worked with some APC state’s House of Assembly members in an effort to impose opposition party as the Speaker in the state’s House of Assembly.
According to him, before the state House of Assembly election , my Deputy told the seven members of APC in the state House of Assembly to work with five PDP members that are loyal to him in the Assembly to produce the Speaker.
He said he wondered why his Deputy seeks to have another speakership candidate outside the Governor’s interest adding that it is not in their common interest.

He said his Deputy was going to do all sorts of things when you asked him about something the next day he will.do.something else.
He also said that he was shocked to see a court restraining the State House of Assembly from impeaching him as Deputy Governor when there was nothing like that.
Obaseki who was amazed about his Deputy lying under oath that he was prevented from attending the State Executive Council Council meeting despite writing his name on the register.
Obaseki during the meeting with stakeholders in the state said, ” The Constitution made him the Governor of Edo state and he knows that power of the Governor, adding that the constitution does not provide for co -governor .”
He also accused his Deputy of leaving the country without informing him while he was on annual leave .
He further explained that Esrako did not have a Commissioner because he refused to come to the meeting where the decision will be taken on that matter.
Obaseki said: ” We called him when we were about to take the decision on the Commissioners , he told us that he will not come.. You can ask the Chairman .”
