The Edo College Old Boys Association has enjoined the 2022 graduating students of Edo College, Benin City, Edo State to be good ambassadors of the school in the pursuit of their aspirations.
The National Legal Adviser, ECOBA, Nosa Iyekekpolo made the appeal on behalf of the Association in Benin City.
Iyekekpolo spoke during the 2022 graduation ceremony and prize giving day at the college hall.
He urged the graduating students to ensure that wherever they are located, they should locate and join the ECOBA branch nearest to them.
While congratulating and welcoming them to a new phase of life, Iyekekpolo said ECOBA branch is everywhere, adding that they should ensure they become members.
The Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Joan Oviawe, who was represented by Mary Osegede, commended the students for doing very well in the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination Council and National Examination Council organised examination.
Osegede urged them to take their studies seriously.
According to the Commissioner: “When you are educated, you can help the society and your parents.
“Be focused on your future endeavours and never believe that education is a scam.
“Parents should not be tired to educate their children, show them love and they will not go astray.”
The President, ECOBA Worldwide, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, who was represented by the Administrator of ECOBA Office, Prof. A. Ogedengbe, urge the students to be of good conduct at all times.
Igbinedion announced an endowment of N100,000 for the three best teaches annually.
In consistence with the annual award for excellence, the ECOBA Lagos branch made presentation of plaques and cash awards to deserving students.
The Overall Best Student in Mathematics Award, SS3 2021/2022, donated by Senator David Dafinone Foundation, was presented to Utosu Desmond Uchechukwu by Oseghede.
The Overall Best in English Language Award, donated by Sunday Aire Uaboi, was presented to Ose-Osaghae Osasere and the best in Economics SS3 2021/2022 award donated by Senator David Dafinone Foundation presented to Ahmed Abdul Hakeem by Ogedengbe.
The best in Christian Religion studies SS3 overall best 2021/2022 award was presented to Agbonifo Oghosa Divine by Ogedengbe and the overall best in Mathematics JSS3 2021/2022 award donated by Godwin Ize-Iyamu was presented to Utosu Chiemena Henry
The best in Mathematics SS3 2021/2022 award donated by Engr. Emmanuel Aguele was presented to Haruna Abdulrahman Afeaye and the best in accounts SS3 2021/2022 award donated by Senator David Foundation was presented to Evbuowan Boajay by Pastor Greg Iyayi.
The best in Physics SS3 2021/2022 award donated by Engr. E.E Iyamu was presented to Aleme Ikechukwu Raphael by Pastor Greg Iyayi and the best in fine Arts SS3 award donated by Michael Omo Osagie was presented to Ebuka Benedict Emmanuel by the Principal, Edo College, Peter Edomwonyi
The best Agricultural Science student award SS3 2021/2022 award donated by Osasenaye Osarenkoe and the Best in Biology award donated by Madam Ofure Akpata were presented to Utosu Desmond Uchechukwu by Edomwonyi
The best in drama SS2 2021/2022 award donated by AVM Joe Ehigie (retd) was presented to Ikpomwonsa Marvelous by the Edomwonyi and the best in Biology SS2 2021/2022 award donated by Hilda Gregory, aka Edede Edo College, was presented to Adejumo T. Anuoluwa
The best student in Geography SS3 2021/2022 award donated by Omala Endowment Foundation was presented to Osadolor Erharuyi Arnord by the principal and the best teacher in Geography award also donated by Omala Endowment Foundation was presented to Salami Modonald by the principal
The best in Athletics SS2 2021/2022 award donated by B.A.A. Guobadia was presented to Ebuka Benedict Emmanuel by the principal and the best sports persons 2021/2022 award donated by Uyi Akpata was presented to Agbama Nelson
The best class in French award donated by Ambassador Vincent Okobi was presented to JSS 2C by the principal, best French student award was presented to Utosu Chiomona Henry, best in music award presented to Edomwonyi Shadrack and overall best in Civic Education presented to Osariemen Uyiosa Sidney by the Principal.
The overall best in English language award donated by Mrs. Omokhuwo Aloga was presented to Osayande Steven Osaruwonyi, the best in Government award presented to Ogedegbe Richmond Osaro and the student with best character award was presented to Osariemen Uyiosa Syndney by the Principal.
The ECOBA National Legal Adviser also presented two awards in memory of Late Bishop Odi Okundaye on behalf of ECOBA class of 87 to two outstanding students, Agbonifor got the best Christian studies award with a cash of N20,000 and Signey Osareme, Best student award in Christianity.
Also, the Akenzua House received a gold cup on behalf of ECOBA Lagos branch as the best house. It was presented to the House Master, Lovely Egbadon by the Vice Principal (Hostels) Osaro Christopher Aghagboren.
Other awards presented to the students are the Engr. Amen Aghedo award for the overall best performance in Mathematics JSS1-JSS2 2020-2021 presented to Uwagboe Osamede Michael, and the Overall best JSS 1-JSS2 2020-2021 presented to Chukwu Emmanuel Chiagozem.
The Sir Simeon S.A. Uaboi award presented to the best student in English language 2021/2022 and the best-behaved student presented to Ogbeide Osawere Joshua.
The Rev. Greg Iyayi award for the President, Edo College Christian fellowship presented to Ogbeide Osawese Joshua, the Principal, Peter Edomwonyi award for the best innovative student SS3 2021/2022 presented to Aiwekhwe Osayuki Gabriel and the Hostel inspection 2021/2022 award presented to Akenzua house.
