The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 540 men to control road traffic and ensure safer roads throughout the Easter holidays across Sokoto state.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO), Sokoto Sector Command, Salisu Tureta, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Friday in Sokoto, the State capital, noting that the men comprised 390 Marshals and 150 Special Marshals.
”The Federal Road Safety Corps RS10. Sokoto Sector Command, appealed to the motoring public to desist from over speeding, dangerous driving, route violation and night travels during the 2022 Easter celebration.
”The command has set up the Easter special patrol operation squad in Sokoto, and urged motorist to imbibe the theme of the 2022 special patrol operation, tagged ‘’Zero Road Traffic Crashes’’
”To achieve the goal, the command will ensure a free flow of traffic and also reduce road traffic fatalities by 15 per cent in the state.
”The special patrol operation will further pay attention to excessive speed, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading violation, seatbelt violation, driving by underaged persons, use of phone while driving, route violation, lane indiscipline, tyre violation and other road traffic violations,” Tureta said.
He further advised the public to be extra careful and plan their journeys properly by ensuring routine services.
The PRO called on the general public to cooperate with officers in order to achieve the noble objective, calling on them to obey traffic rules as ‘only the living can celebrate’.
