Eagles goalie, Ejide, loses mother

Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Austin Ejide, has lost his mother, Madam Mary Onuekwusia Ejide, aka Aruka Akwa.
The late mother of the goalkeeper, 67, breathed her last on Thursday in Chicago, USA after a brief illness.
Ejide on his Instagram page wrote: “It took me time to realise u are no more. Your death has left a big hole in my heart and I can’t seem to hold back my tears. I know you are in a better place. *You fought mum, but God wanted you home. I miss you, sleep on mama until we meet again to part no more.”
Ejide, now a free agent, made his debut for Nigeria against Namibia on June 16, 2001.
He has been named in three FIFA World Cup squads: 2002 in Japan and South Korea, 2010 in South Africa, and 2014 in Brazil.
He has also featured for Nigeria at five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments: 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2013.
