No fewer than 10 persons, including the driver, died when a commercial luxury bus operated by Young Shall Grow Motors, rammed into a stationary truck at Asese, Ogun State on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Tuesday.
The Mercedes Benz Marcopolo bus, with number plate: SMK 867 XG, was driving inwards Lagos when the accident occurred.
The plate number of the Iveco truck it rammed into was: AAA 193 XP.
The truck was said to have been parked by the roadside after it developed a fault.
The Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Clement Oladele, confirmed the death of nine persons from the accident.
Akindele said: “A total of 42 persons were involved in the accident, comprising 34 males and eight females.
“Three males and two female adults were injured, while seven males and two female adults died.”
But the Ogun State Police Command and the Ogun State Traffic Compliance Agency confirmed the death of 10 persons.
The spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said: “Ten people died in the accident.
“Nine died on the spot, while one died at the hospital.
“Among the dead was the bus driver.
“The vehicle belongs to Young Shall Grow.
“The trailer driver is at large and we are looking for him.”
